Its stylish capital Lagos is well worth a visit and the coastline around here is notable for its limestone caves and grottoes, which you can visit by boat. This coast is also home to Praia da Marinha, Lagoa voted one of the most beautiful and well preserved beaches in the world, its pristine waters even won it the Golden Beach award.

The hilly interior of the Algarve retains much of its heritage and history with whitewashed cottages, cobbled streets and crumbling castles set amidst lush wooded hillsides.
