Algarve to host Holidays in the Sun |
People staying in holiday villas in the Algarve this summer may notice an innovative exhibition that brings a number of eye-catching artworks to some unusual locations.
The Holidays in the Sun exhibition opened on June 22nd and will run until September 7th.
Various national and international artists are involved in the initiative, which brings pieces of work to locations away from the ordinary galleries, museums and exhibition centres.
Projects will be based at the airport, on the street, on beaches and other public areas in destinations including Albufeira, Faro, Sao Rafael beaches and the old fish market in Portimao.
The exhibition pieces are designed to appear to passers-by in a surprising and unexpected way.
Works that people on Algarve villa holidays may be able to spot include a number of fake signs along public roads created by Rogelio Lopez Cuenca and ice creams made by Cildo Meireles, which aim to draw attention to the problem of global water shortages.
