Alicante to play human chess |
Holidaymakers staying in Costa Blanca villas at the end of July will be able to see an interesting sight as an Alicante town hosts a human chess event.
Every summer the town of Xabia-Javea plays host to this unique theatre performance on a giant chessboard.
Children from local schools, aged between six and 14, take part in a show that brings to life a range of characters and scenarios.
Using a game of chess as its basis, the event tells a new story every year and features innovative stage designs and musical accompaniment.
A narrator and two players provide the structure to the performance, reading out the movements from an outstanding match in the history of chess to offer a new perspective on theatre.
Holidaymakers staying in Costa Blanca villas can enjoy a number of events and activities in Alicante, including the Volvo Ocean Race that will depart from the port in October this year.
