Automotive entertainment in Cyprus |
People staying in villas in Cyprus this week have been entertained by a number of automotive events and exhibitions.
The most high-profile occasion was the arrival of the world's fastest diesel-powered car, which went on display for the public to see, reports the Cyprus Mail.
JCB's Dieselmax vehicle arrived in Latsia on June 8th and will remain on show at the headquarters of Uniplant, the JCB dealer in Cyprus, until June 14th.
The Dieselmax achieved an average speed of just over 350mph during two runs on the famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA, in August 2006.
This broke the previous diesel record of 236mph set in August 1973.
Visitors were also entertained by the 2008 Historic Cyprus Rally this week, which took place on July 11th, 12th and 13th and saw a number of classic and vintage vehicles cruising on the island's roads.
