Brits 'determined not to give up holidays'
More than a third of British people are determined not to sacrifice their annual villa holidays and other foreign trips, regardless of the severity of the credit crunch, according to research.

The BBC polled more than 1,000 people and found that those in Scotland are the least likely to give up their holiday to cut costs.

People aged 18 to 24 are the age group least likely to forgo a foreign trip for financial reasons, while those in the Midlands are the most prepared to miss out on a holiday to save money.

Nearly half (47 per cent) of the respondents to the BBC poll said that the strength of the euro is not likely to affect their choice of destination, suggesting that villa holidays in France and Italy will remain popular.

According to the Association of British Travel Agents, Spain continues to be British holidaymakers' location of choice in 2008.

Figures from the Spanish Tourist Board show that the country saw more tourists from the UK between January and May this year, although these visitors spent less.
