Brits flocking to the Costa del Sol |
Spain's Costa del Sol remains one of the most popular European destinations among British tourists, new figures suggest.
A survey shows that hotels in the region welcomed 1,311,467 guests in April which does not include those who opted for Costa del Sol villas.
The data from the Costa del Sol Hotelier's Association, also forecasts that the May figures will be even higher, predicting an occupancy rate of 62.46 per cent.
For April 2008, the majority of people staying in hotels were from the UK - making up 30 per cent of the total.
Families often prefer to opt for a villa with a pool when on holiday in Spain as it gives them the luxury of more privacy and relaxation.
Villas in the Costa del Sol are particularly popular as they are often located a short distance from the beach and numerous golf courses.
