Brits 'heading to sandy beaches in Europe this summer' |
British people taking villa holidays and other foreign trips this summer are most attracted to the sandy beaches of Europe, according to a new survey.
Research by Abbey found that more than a quarter (26 per cent) of Brits plan to visit Europe this summer.
Sandy beaches such as those found on the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca are set to be as popular as ever, although more than half (57 per cent) of people said they hope to go somewhere where they will not encounter other Brits.
The majority (62 per cent) of respondents to the poll said they will pay for their trip through money they have saved up over time.
A lucky 23 per cent of people said they will be able to afford their holiday with one monthly pay packet.
The average Briton will spend around £1,650 on annual villa holidays or similar trips this year, which equates to around ten per cent of typical disposable income.
