Brittany town to celebrate pomme |
People who take regular villa holidays in France will know that the country enjoys hosting festivals to celebrate its love of food and drink.
These events often concentrate on particular items and in the town of Bazouges-la-Perouse next month the focus will be on the beverage known as pomme.
Pomme is a by-product of the cider-making process that was once an important part of some French regions' winter diets, owing to its nutritional value when reduced to a sugary paste.
A festival celebrating the drink will be held in the Brittany town of Bazouges-la-Perouse, which is located in the Ille-et-Vilaine area, on the weekend of October 18th-19th this year.
To prepare for the event, fruit is simmered in a kettle for 24 hours and can either be consumed as it is or used as a filling for tarts and pastries.
As well as enjoying the delicious foods and drinks on offer, people on villa holidays in Brittany will be able to explore the local market and be entertained by street performers, music and shows.
