Brittany town to celebrate religious day |
People on villa holidays in Brittany in July may get the chance to join in with one of the region's oldest traditions.
On July 13th, the town of Locronan will host the Petite Tromenie, which is one of the oldest 'pardons', or religious days, in Brittany.
Visitors interested in seeing the rites associated with this occasion will be able to observe a parade of people in costume, carrying decorated banners on a procession that starts at the local church.
The parade moves through the countryside and heads to a number of rural sites that are spread over large forests and fields.
Once every six years, pilgrims take part in the Grande Tromenie, which takes in an even larger area than its more regular counterpart.
Travellers on villa holidays in Brittany can enjoy a number of urban, developed areas as well as rural territory, including the cities of Nantes, Rennes, Brest and Lorient.
