CTO 'pleased' with tourism figures |
The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) was pleased with the increase in the number of people taking villa holidays and other trips on the island in June, according to reports.
An announcement by the CTO revealed a year-on-year increase of 8.8 per cent in the number of people visiting Cyprus in June.
For the six-month period from January to June this year, the rise in visitors stood at 2.7 per cent on 2007, reports the Cyprus Mail.
Arrivals from the UK, which is the Mediterranean island's biggest market, rose by 7.7 per cent in June as Brits enjoyed the luxury on offer in villas in Cyprus, as well as the destination's many landmarks and attractions.
There were also increases recorded in visitation from Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Greece.
The CTO said that it plans to continue working to attract visitors to Cyprus, particularly during the winter season.
