Classical music galore in France |
Classical music lovers will soon be booking their villas in France to ensure they do not miss a single second of a major festival to be held next year.
La Folle Journee de Nantes, which is billed by the Pays de la Loire tourist office as the largest classical music event in Europe, will take place from January 28th to February 1st.
The festival will be held in Nantes in northern France, a location that is easily accessible for people taking villa holidays in Brittany.
More than 1,800 musicians and 270 concerts will feature in the festival, which every year presents performances themed around a particular era or composer.
The theme for the 2009 event will be the composers of northern Germany from 1650 to 1750, meaning that one of the central elements of the programme will be the work of the great Johann Sebastian Bach.
People on villa holidays who make it to the festival will hear some of Bach's most famous works as well as a number of rare pieces, many of which have never been performed in concert before.
