DJ kicks off world record attempt in Cyprus |
People currently enjoying villa holidays in Cyprus may have the opportunity to see a world record being set.
Local DJ Gee Papa, also known as George Papapetrou, began his attempt to break the record for the world's longest DJ marathon at Nicosia's Dot Club on July 1st.
He is hoping to keep up his 106-hour effort until 18:00 on July 6th, reports the Cyprus Mail.
This is not the first time that Mr Papapetrou has tried to break the record, as he played non-stop for 103 hours in Limassol last year but there was no official Guinness representative present to verify the attempt.
Andreas Georgiou, a spokesman for one of the event's sponsors, said: "In his first event, it was more difficult for him to have the resources to get a Guinness judge on the island so his first record was not official.
"Now, through sponsors he can afford to bring an official judge."
Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus and offers lots of activities for people on villa holidays who are not interested in nightclubs, such as the Liberty monument, the Kykkos monastery and a series of Venetian wall fortifications.
