Delve beneath the legend of Julius Caesar |
The name Julius Caesar is familiar to most people, largely thanks to the Shakespeare play, but people on villa holidays in Rome will have the chance to learn more about the life and significance of this great Roman leader this year.
'Julius Caesar the man, the enterprise, the myth' will be held at Chiostro del Bramante on Via della Pace from October 24th until April 2009.
Caesar was a hugely important figure in Roman history he formed the link between the republic and the empire and was known as a charismatic man and a powerful leader.
The exhibition set to open in Rome this month will reportedly be the first show entirely dedicated to this giant of ancient history.
People on villa holidays in Rome will be able to browse through a host of fascinating archaeological finds at the exhibition, including sculptures, mosaics, frescoes, jewels and coins.
Also on display will be paintings and other pieces by artists such as Francesco Hayez, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and Peter Paul Rubens.
