Discover Renoir in Rome |
People planning villa holidays in Rome this year who are interested in discovering more about Impressionist art can do so at the Complesso del Vittoriano.
Between March 7th and June 29th, this museum complex on Via San Pietro in Carcere will host an exhibition called Renoir: Tradition and Innovation.
Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a leading figure in the Impressionist movement and known as a celebrator of beauty and sensuality, with the female figure providing the focus of many of his paintings.
He learnt his craft alongside two other great painters Claude Monet and Alfred Sisley with whom he painted landscapes in Fointainebleau.
The exhibition of his work in Rome will feature around 150 paintings on loan from Italian and international museums.
Setting out to explore Renoir's human and artistic journey through his expressions on canvas, the show will include many of the painter's typically colourful and vibrant pieces, which explore tender and intimate scenes while evoking a strong atmosphere.
