Discover ancient art in a classic setting |
An exhibition will be held in one of Rome's premier museums this year looking at the classic art and sculpture of the 18th century.
The show at the Capitoline Museums will boast 150 pieces of art and will run until June 8th.
A range of media will comprise the exhibition, including ceramics, painting, drawing and etching, and the display will be designed to illustrate the importance of antiquity in the culture and character of Rome.
People staying in villas in Italy who visit the event will be able to admire Luigi Valadier's Callipygian Venus and Apollo of Belvedere, as well as figures of Laocoon, Bacchus and the mythological twins Castor and Pollux, which were sculpted by Francesco and Luigi Righetti.
The Capitoline Museums are a group of establishments dedicated art and archaeology on top of Rome's famous Capitoline Hill.
Contained in three grand buildings in Piazza del Campidoglio, the history of the museums can be traced back to the 15th century.
