Europe remains popular for villa holidays over Easter |
Villa holidays in Portugal and other European breaks proved attractive enough over the Easter period for Brits to forget about the weak value of the pound, according to figures from International Currency Exchange (Ice).
The company revealed that, in the weeks leading up to the Easter period, 39 per cent of all travel money orders were for euros.
This made the single European currency the most popular option with British people planning villa holidays and other getaways, followed by the US dollar, which attracted 38 per cent of all orders.
Ice said that the figures show a preference for convenience and familiarity over value for many holidaymakers.
Andrew Hamilton, head of marketing for the company, said that families want holidays that are "low on stress and high in convenience".
People planning villa holidays in Portugal can fly directly to Faro with a number of airlines and visit popular coastal hotspots such as Albufeira, Portimao and Lagos.
