Foreign holidays 'very tempting' to Brits |
Villa holidays in France and other trips to European hotspots still prove extremely tempting to UK holidaymakers, despite the popularity of destinations within Britain, it has been claimed.
Robin Broke, director of the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions, said there are signs that British holidaymakers are beginning to stay at home more regularly.
However, he also pointed out that Britons are second only to Germans in their preference for going abroad for holidays.
"That trend is still there, not least because we've got these very tempting low-cost airlines and we've got a very well developed outward package tour industry," Mr Broke explained.
"Those two things make it very temping for people to go abroad."
It is not only affordability and the quality of product on offer that influence people's travel decisions, Mr Broke added, as factors such as the exchange rate can also play a part in holidaymakers' choices.
