High numbers expected at Southampton for Easter |
BAA Southampton airport has announced that it is expecting a large number of people to jet off on Easter holidays from the south coast this weekend.
More than 31,000 people on villa holidays and other breaks are set to travel from Southampton this weekend, making it one of the busiest Easter periods on the airport's records.
A number of top destinations for villa holidays are expected to prove popular from Southampton this year, including the French hotspots of Rennes in Brittany and Avignon in Provence.
Costa del Sol villas could also be in demand with people travelling from Southampton, with Malaga flights set to carry substantial numbers of travellers, while Faro in the Algarve is also set to see an influx of tourists.
Anybody planning to go travelling for the Easter weekend should be sure to plan their trips carefully as severe weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office.
Areas including eastern Scotland, eastern England and the Midlands could see snowfall on March 21st and 22nd.
