Italy visitors to enjoy "spectacular events" |
The Italian state tourist board has compiled a list of the "spectacular events" that people taking villa holidays in the country will be able to enjoy this year.
Holidaymakers staying in Tuscany villas between February 8th and March 1st will be able to experience the 18th century carnival of Lucca and Viareggio.
In Lucca, carnival events are held in various palaces and grand buildings, while Viarregio is famous for its street celebrations, with impressive floats passing along the sea promenade.
Sporting occasions will be among the highlights for people taking villa holidays in Rome, with the Six Nations coming to the city in February and March.
Italy will play three home rugby matches at the Stadio Flaminio, against Ireland on February 15th, Wales on March 14th and France on March 21st.
Another popular sporting event this year will be the Calcio Storico competition in Florence in June, which will see four teams of 27 members each taking part in a 15th century-style tournament of fighting and football.
