Kitesurfers to wow the Algarve |
Sport fans visiting the Algarve in July may be lucky enough to see the World Championships of the thrilling sport of kitesurfing.
This event will be held in Portimao between July 12th and 20th.
It will see the world's finest exponents of the sport pulling off their most ambitious and spectacular moves as they compete in this leg of the world title race.
Both male and female competitors will take part in the event on Praia do Alvor, which will comprise two sections – the main freestyle contest and the secondary regatta event.
Kitesurfing is a very popular sport among young people and a range of entertainment and activities are therefore provided in Portimao at the time of the competition.
Portimao is a popular destination among people staying in Algarve villas and other holidaymakers, partly owing to its picturesque coastal areas and expansive beaches.
