Leading chef in love with Provence |
People planning villa holidays in Provence will be interested to hear that the region has been given an emphatic stamp of approval by one of the world's most celebrated chefs.
When asked in an interview with the Telegraph about his "favourite place on earth", Alain Ducasse replied: "Provence, without a doubt."
Mr Ducasse has an impressive 14 Michelin stars to his name, including three for his Louis XV restaurant in Monaco and another three for his eatery at the Hotel Plaza Athenee in Paris.
Speaking about his love for Provence, Mr Ducasse said: "A while ago, I bought a 12th-century country inn there, La Bastide de Moustiers, with my wife Gwenaelle.
"We opened it to the public as an auberge in 1995, so that other people could also recharge their batteries in this lovely country place."
When asked about the thing he looks forward to most when travelling, Mr Ducasse cited "delicious local cuisine" something that people taking villa holidays in Provence can also get excited about.
Visitors can explore a number of markets selling local produce if they want to prepare their own meals, or alternatively visit one of the region's numerous restaurants.
