Marseille to celebrate world music |
Lovers of international music will be able to celebrate their passion during villa holidays in Provence this month as Marseille plays host to the Fiesta des Suds world music festival.
The French city has been the location for this event for more than 15 years. This year the festival will run from October 20th to 31st.
Popular artists from all over the world come to the Provence region of France to perform at Dock des Suds, an unusual venue beneath a motorway bridge that used to be a dockyard.
Some 60,000 people a year come to the festival to enjoy a varied musical line-up, which last year included Serbian musical genius Goran Bregovic with a 40-piece orchestra and the Massilia Sound System.
There is plenty to enjoy other than the music at Fiesta des Suds, including art exhibitions, photography displays, fireworks shows and a range of French cuisine.
Families on villa holidays in Provence will enjoy Fiesta des Minots, an afternoon of activities specifically for children.
