Overhaul planned for Cyprus mansion |
The Pilavakis Mansion, one of the most distinctive landmarks in the holiday hotspot of Limassol, is set for a facelift, according to reports.
This building is expected to join Limassol's historic town centre by being transformed into an urban centre.
State-of-the-art library facilities will be installed in the building, which is being developed following an agreement between Limassol Municipality and the local technology university, the Cyprus Mail reports.
The Pilavakis Mansion has been the home to the Limmasol Municipal Library since the 1970s.
University representative Andreas Mallouppas said: "The building's renovation alone will cost about 2 million [£1.58 million] and construction will be completed within 12 to 15 months from the time it begins.
"In addition to the renovation, electronic systems, equipment and other features will be installed."
Limassol provides an enjoyable day-trip destination for people staying in villas in Cyprus, boasting landmarks including a medieval castle and a picturesque coastline.
