Picasso Museum joins night-time celebrations |
Malaga's Picasso Museum recently took part in an event that saw cultural establishments all over Europe open at night.
The initiative was scheduled to coincide with International Museum Day, which has been held some time in May every year since 1977.
This year the day took on the theme of 'museums as agents of social change and development', a topic that Alissandra Cummins, president of the International Council of Museums, said is becoming increasingly important in the modern world.
Speaking before the event, Ms Cummins said: "International Museum Day shows that it is possible to gather together in a new way to interpret the past in light of the present to shape a better future."
People staying in Costa del Sol villas who enjoyed the one-off night-time opening of the Picasso Museum were offered guided tours of the collections and entertained by jazz and swing music, Euro Weekly News reports.
As well as housing an extensive collection of work by Picasso, the museum is currently hosting an exhibition exploring international photography.
