'Pincio Clock' on display in Rome |
People taking villa holidays in Rome before the end of the year will be able to enjoy a good look at the 'Orologio del Pincio', or Pincio Clock.
The ornate and visually striking Pincio hydrochronometer was created in 1873 and made of wood and cast iron.
It was created by Father Giovan Battista Embriaco, who first exhibited the clock with great success at the National Exhibition in Paris.
The piece was then brought back to Rome and placed in a suitable setting in a fountain in the Villa Borghese park.
Visitors to the Italian capital can now see the clock in this location after it was restored to its former glory.
There are few destinations in Europe better for people interested in history and heritage than Rome, as the city boasts attractions including St Peter's Square in Vatican City and the Column of Marcus Aurelius.
