Rome celebrates great victories |
The city of Rome will present an exhibition this year celebrating its ancient civilisation's great victories of the past.
Visitors taking villa holidays in Rome can visit this display entitled Trionfi Romani, or Roman Victories until September 4th.
Bas-reliefs, bronze pieces, coins, sculptures and paintings all aim to express the concept of Roman victories by exploring the ceremonies and festivities that accompanied the great battles of the past.
The first section of the exhibition covers famous triumphs relating to Etruscan and Hellenistic cultures.
Illustrious victors and the famously defeated including Julius Caesar, Pompeius and Octavian will be the subject of the second part of the display, which will also recreate significant battle scenes.
The final section will be devoted to cultures that were on the receiving end of Roman conquest, including the Greeks, the Judeans, the Dacians and the Barbarians.
People on villa holidays in Rome can find this exhibition at the Piazza del Colosseo, near the famous Forum and Capitoline Hill.
