Rome exhibition to explore 19th century painting |
A new exhibition in Rome this year is to explore Italian 19th century painting.
During this time, Italy was still not considered a cultural leader despite the likes of Verdi, Puccini and Rossini creating musical works that would be remembered for centuries to come.
People enjoying villa holidays in Italy before June 10th can visit this exhibition at the Scuderie del Quirinale to explore the rich selection of artistic work that came out of the country in the 1800s.
More than 100 pieces are included in the display, representing the Milanese romantic school, the Macchiaioli of Florence and the Morelli school of Naples, among others.
The paintings depict everyday scenes and highlight issues of existence and identity that related to the people of the time.
Art lovers taking villa holidays in Rome this year will be able to visit numerous exhibitions, including a show dedicated to Pierre-Auguste Renoir at Complesso del Vittoriano, which will run until June 29th.
