Rome festival to focus on Brazilian culture |
Travellers enjoying villa holidays in Rome in October will notice the atmosphere created by the city's fledgling film festival and may also detect a certain Brazilian flavour to the proceedings.
RomeCinemaFest will get its Brazil-themed event underway with a carnival-style opening, according to film industry publication the Hollywood Reporter.
Ten films shown during the festival will bear the names of Brazilian directors, including Os Desafinados, a tribute to bossa nova music.
Another music-themed movie set to be shown is Coracao Vagabundo, a documentary about the singer Caetano Veloso.
Rome's film festival is now in its fourth year. In 2008 the event will run from October 22nd-31st.
Italy has a rich cinematic heritage that many people taking villa holidays in the country may be interested in.
It was the home country of the seminal directors Federico Fellini, Roberto Rossellini, Michelangelo Antonio and Vittorio de Sica, as well as the famous film studio Cinecitta.
