Rome theatre moves base for summer festival |
People taking villa holidays in Rome between July 10th and August 14th will be able to experience the festival of Terme di Caracalla.
This event sees the Italian capital's Teatro dell'Opera relocated between the walls of Terme di Caracalla, which is one of Rome's best kept archaeological sites.
Terme di Caracalla was a location once used for public baths that dates back to around 200 AD and is now a popular tourist attraction.
The festival based in the ruins of the baths has been a tradition since 1937 and every year takes on a unique character thanks to its ancient and atmospheric surroundings.
July 10th will see the event get underway with a production of Aida, the opera by Giuseppe Verdi, followed by a number of other shows that people on villa holidays in Rome can enjoy until mid-August.
Holidaymakers who visit Rome before July 6th will be able to head to the Musei Capitolini as it hosts an exhibition featuring the bronze head of Queen Arsinoe III, which has been transported from its usual resting place in a museum in Mantua.
