Rome to host Golden League |
Rome will play host to the cream of international athletics this summer when it hosts one of the six competitions that make up the Golden League.
The Golden League was a platform invented to ensure that the world's top athletes meet and compete with each other on a regular basis.
Berlin's 1936 Olympic stadium provided the conclusion to last year's Golden League and will serve as the opening venue for this year's tournament on June 1st.
Oslo will host the second of the six events that make up the league on June 6th, before fans staying in villas in Italy get their chance to see the competition on July 11th.
The Golden Gala Roma will be held at the Stadio Olimpico, the arena that is home to both AS Roma and SS Lazio during the Italian football season.
Golden League competitors will then move onto Paris on July 18th, before bringing the tournament to a close in Zurich and Brussels later in the summer.
Sport fans are certain to see a grand spectacle at Golden League events, as the athletes have the motivation of a $1 million (£512,000) prize if they win all six of the competition legs across Europe.
