Rome to host International Horse Show |
Fans of equestrianism will be able to attend a prestigious international event while enjoying villa holidays in Rome in May.
The International Horse Show at Piazza di Siena will have its 76th outing between May 22nd and 25th this year.
This event, which takes place in the picturesque gardens of Villa Borghese, is seen as one of the most important and exciting occasions in the showjumping calendar and is popular with Romans and visitors alike.
In 2003, the Piazza di Siena meeting was made part of the Samsung Super League, which brings together the top eight showjumping competitions in the world.
One of the highlights of the occasion is the mounted carabinieri display, which celebrates historic themes related to the Piazza di Siena, such as memory, devotion, rite and sacrifice.
This is followed by a closing ceremony involving some 145 horses that put on a fascinating show.
The Villa Borghese, which traces its historical origins back to the 18th century, is seen as one of the architectural highlights of the park in which it is located.
