Rome visitors enjoy contemporary art
People enjoying villa holidays in Rome over the weekend had the opportunity to explore the city's contemporary art scene.

Named after the famous saying 'all roads lead to Rome', a show called The Road to Contemporary Art was held in the Italian capital on March 1st and 2nd.

The cultural showcase was organised by Roberto Casiraghi, the man who, according to the International Herald Tribune, put Turin on the contemporary art map.

A number of locations across Rome were involved in the expansive exhibition, although the main venues were the Complesso Monumentale di Santo Spirito, Palazzo Wedekind e Ferrajoli and the Temple of Hadrian, ensuring that ancient Rome was the backdrop for the event.

Around 50 galleries, most of which were Italian, with about a third coming from Rome itself, rented spaces within Rome's historic city centre.

People enjoying villa holidays in Rome can find a number of art galleries around the city, including the Galleria Spada and the Ermanno Tedeschi Gallery.
