Sample sporting culture on the Costa del Sol |
Followers of horseracing enjoying villa holidays on the Costa del Sol this summer will have an opportunity to experience the sport as it is celebrated in Spain.
The Costa del Sol racecourse in the town of Mijas in Malaga will feature four races on August 1st.
Participants will compete for €25,000 (£20,000) in the first race, which will feature three-year-old colts and fillies born and bred in Spain.
The other three races, which will offer purses ranging from €8,500 to €11,900, will feature older horses and mares, which will run over distances of 1,300 to 2,200 metres.
Fans of sport may also be interested in visiting the Costa del Sol on August 3rd to see the 49th swim crossing of the port of Malaga.
People on villa holidays who attend this event will see hundreds of participants competing in a 1,000-metre swim in four different categories.
