See some city sights on villa holidays in France |
The Pays de la Loire tourist board has encouraged people planning villa holidays in France and other breaks this year to pay a visit to some of the region's cities.
There are five departments in the Pays de la Loire, each with its own capital boasting a unique character and style, according to the tourist board.
One of the biggest cities for people staying in holiday villas in Brittany to visit is Nantes, which boasts attractions including the Rue Crebillon shopping street, a historic quarter with stone-paved streets and an 18th century opera house.
Angers also has historical attractions, such as the 107-metre-long Apocalypse tapestry and a 12th century cathedral, while Saumur is home to Fontevraud abbey, one of the world's largest monasteries.
Motorsport fans can pay a visit to Le Mans in the Pays de la Loire to learn about its famous 24-hour race, while those looking to experience the rural appeal of the region can head to Laval or Cholet.
There are many other popular regions for travellers to visit during villa holidays in France, such as the Dordogne in the south-west or Provence in the south-east.
