St John's Festival to entertain Costa del Sol |
Holidaymakers visiting the Costa del Sol this month may notice a festival atmosphere in the region towards the end of June.
This period will see a number of towns on Spain's southern coast pay homage to St John the Baptist.
One of the most active locations will be Alhaurin de la Torre, which is known for fully committing itself to the festivities.
People staying in Costa del Sol villas earlier this month may have witnessed an early beginning to the festival, with a traditional procession taking place on June 8th.
This event featured floats, processions, paella feasts and plenty of beer and red wine.
The range of entertainment taking place between June 20th and 24th will include brass band performances, comedy shows and even a children's party with balloon sculpting and storytelling.
Alhaurin de la Torre is a district of Malaga, a port city in southern Spain that is one of the country's top tourist destinations.
