TV chef explores best of Brittany's cuisine |
Brits planning villa holidays in Brittany will have their appetites whetted prior to their trip by a new TV programme exploring the region's gastronomic culture.
James Martin, who many people will recognise from shows including Ready Steady Cook and Saturday Kitchen, is currently in the middle of filming the show, called James Martin's Brittany, with fellow chef Lawrence Keogh.
Viewers of the programme, being broadcast on the UKTV Food channel, will be able to see the pair exploring markets in seaside towns such as St Malo, picking up cheeses, meats, vegetables and other ingredients to make mouth-watering meals.
Martin told the Manchester Evening News that he was happy to take up the offer of making a programme in Brittany, having never filmed a show outside Britain before.
"Don't get me wrong, I love British food, but I started thinking, 'when am I ever going to do get the opportunity to do stuff abroad?'," he said.
As well as exploring Brittany's local cuisine, the show also looks at the region itself as the host embarks on a road trip around the French province.
Brits on villa holidays in Brittany will have the chance to sample a number of the local specialties, including spider crab, crepes made from buckwheat flour and cakes made with prunes.
