Travel guides 'can improve holidays' |
Villa holidays and other forms of travel around the world can be improved with the help of a guidebook, as long as it is a reliable and well-written guide and used in the right way, it has been claimed.
According to Andy Riddle, managing director of publishing company Footprint, travel guides can "make the difference to the quality of a trip" if they are written by a well-informed and dedicated author.
He added: "It can be a shortcut to all the best opportunities and experiences, which might otherwise be missed."
However, Mr Riddle stressed that there is a certain way for guidebooks to be followed, for holidaymakers to ensure they get the best out of the guide while having an individual experience.
"I would not say that guide books should be followed slavishly," he said.
"A good guide book is a great starting point for getting to understand a country and the choices you have when on the road."
