Unearth the origins of the Renaissance |
Holidaymakers staying in Tuscany villas this year will be able to visit an exhibition that goes in search of the origins of the Florentine Renaissance.
The show will run from May 29th to November 30th and be spread over four sites Borgo San Lorenzo, San Piero a Sieve, Scarperia and Vicchio.
Visitors will be able to see a number of locations that were of major importance to the Medici family, who held a position of great power in Florence from the 13th to the 17th centuries and, along with other Italian families, led the birth of the Renaissance.
A number of influential artists were associated with the house of Medici, including Donatello, Brunelleschi, Bronzino and Vasari.
The heart of the exhibition at San Piero a Sieve will comprise crucifixes sculpted by Donatello and Brunelleschi.
In Scarperia, at the Palazzo del Vicari, holidaymakers will be able to see 16th century armour and discover the stories of warriors at an exhibition called The Medici and their Arms.
